Climate and ecology
We investigate the effects of past, recent and current climate changes on abiotic and biotic processes with particular reference to the mountain environment.

The projects that characterise this area study the deep link between climate and the evolution of life, focusing on analysis of the great extinctions of the past, the glaciological dynamics in progress, the ecology of plants and animals with particular reference to the Alpine biome using bio-indicators of change such as insects, amphibians, reptiles, and birds.
