The collections of the Geological Museum of the Dolomites in Predazzo

Digital catalogue

1280x800_fossile MGD

The geological collections of the Geological Museum of the Dolomites in Predazzo comprise around 18,000 samples, of which over 16,000 are fossils. The remaining part consists of mineral and rock samples.
They are representative of the geology of the Dolomites and hold the richest collection of fossil invertebrates from the Middle Triassic carbonate platforms in Italy, with rare or unique specimens. The main nucleus of the collections is the result of specific research campaigns conducted between the end of the 20th century and the early 2000s and donations from local collectors.
